Getting Through Photographer Burnout
We all get it. Burnout. So many amazing people that step in front of our cameras. Each one we want to be unique, fitting of their own personality. There does come a time when we as photographers have to take a break from the camera and art in general. Experience life a bit. Try new things. I have been on a bit of a sabbatical myself. Well kind of, I still have bookings but spent less time pursuing them. As a former student of the fine arts I used to work with paint and ink. When I have down time from photography bookings I pull out my supplies and start a new work of art. Mostly just to grease up the inactive wheels. After a year I had produced quite a few works of art. Actually probably 60. In January I went to New Orleans City Hall and purchased a permit to sell my art on the fence in Pirates Alley and on Royal Street. Had some really good success and met some amazing people. The best part is it allows me to step away from wedding and portrait photography for a bit and just observe. I have seen new things. Gotten some cool ideas and am now ready to pull that baby out and make some art. Below are a few older b/w street photography shots. These are refreshing my vision. Sitting with my fine art is allowing me to reinvigorate my street work.
So here I am with tomorrow the first of May. I am ready for some changes. Are you? Life is short. Pursue what you love and do what makes your heart dance and give me a call for some new, unique and definitely non-traditional photographs that you will love for a lifetime and beyond. 504-920-8703
