It truly is funny where life leads us. Three years, six months, and a few days ago, Nicole and Andrew were married in New Orleans. They choose Jackson Square and Court of Two Sisters in the French Quarter for their vows, second-line and reception. I had been here three years having moved from Arizona and a successful exhibition run, and was ready to re-establish my photography business in New Orleans. Nic and Drew were my first official wedding in New Orleans as ArtsyPhotographer. It was a wild one too!

During the getting ready photos I had set up an arrangement with the rings and Nic's shoes out on the balcony of Place d'Arms. Nic popped out checking the progress. She reached for one of the shoes, saying 'can we move it...'; she didn't get another word out because I instantly leaped trying to intervene but as luck would have it she tilted the shoe and her wedding band slipped off the heel, bouncing on the balcony floor once, and boom!

Out onto a very busy St. Ann Street it landed!

I grabbed her by the shoulders, said "oh shit!!" and ran.

We had several people including the Manager on Duty of the hotel scouring the streets for her ring. Oh my god, every photographer's nightmare. But that manager and my awesome assistant, husband found it. Albeit embedded in hot tar, having been run over by a car.

But we cleaned it off and it became quite the story to this day.

Fast-forward to today and we are still friends keeping in touch via Facebook, like many past and current clients. Nic contacted me that they were planning to visit and wanted to meet up for a cocktail and just to say 'hey'. I said to myself, "Self, opportunity has arrived" and promptly offered to do an impromptu portrait shoot in the cemetery on their way out of town as a gift.

Just a thanks for believing in me.

Thanks for trusting me with your memories.

And hey, I really like you two crazy people!!

So without further ado. No fancy hair and makeup. No carefully thought-out wardrobe. Just two people 3 1/2 years into married life. It really is beautiful you know.

Give me a call to schedule a special portrait shoot and for more information. 504-920-8703.

The Black Penny Neighborhood Bar is a great little local's place on Rampart across from Armstrong Park

I brought my camera to grab some candids and here runs Nic. No sneaking up on her!

Drew and my husband, Kevin, sampled all the different beer flavors at the Black Penny.

Check out this very cool chandelier! I love the old original architecture crumbling and spotted with mold surrounded by the elegance of an antique light fixture.

Nic ran up to the bar to grab another round and I couldn't help but grab this shot of patrons at the bar.

If you ever meet Nic and/or Drew watch out for this look...because they are plotting. Those two minds in sync...danger danger!

A sweet moment.

We always have to toss in a few posey shots for family.

Another little grab.

This damn parasol has had more use in portrait sessions than it ever saw on Mardi Gras!

Sinister.

I don't care how cliche it may be...add an umbrella and its just fun what results.

This really is Nic and Drew. Saving each other. That's really what marriage is, friends, lovers, sounding boards...partners in life.

I wish I could have heard what these two were saying...

Avengers...

You...

No. You...
